From Stranger to Neighbor
Refugee Assistance FundBelonging Begins With Us
They’ve survived the unimaginable to pursue new beginnings.
Fleeing danger, fathers, mothers and entire families arrive in Tampa Bay often with little more than the clothes on their backs, from thousands of miles away equipped with hope, determination, and employable skills…
…they just need OUR hand up.
8 Months to THRIVE
Refugees are approved and assigned a region of the country to live by the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement. Federal financial support of $3,125 per person is intended to provide for all resettlement essentials such as housing, food, clothing, transportation, and employment support.
However, rising costs and sluggish governmental processes for employment documentation are resulting in a longer runway to self-sufficiency.
85% of refugees gain self-sufficiency within 8 months
The Refugee Assistance THRIVE Fund

- vital additional months of temporary housing:
- home furnishings, clothing, food, transportation assistance
- legal support to expedite work authorization documentation
- vocational training and/or job placement assistance
- healthcare, schools, daycare, cultural competency support
